Sealing and maintenance
Due to the porosity of natural stone, they do require sealing. They need to be given a few coats before grouting and a further coat after to ensure they are well-protected. To keep the tiles their natural colour you can use the LTP Mattstone, but if you require to slightly deepen the colour, the LTP Colour Intensifier can be used as an alternative. To increase the longevity of the seal, ongoing maintenance and cleaning can be carried out using the LTP Waxwash.
Each tile is unique
Due to the natural properties of the natural slate, each tile is unique. They will vary slightly in colour and thickness from tile to tile, to give an authentic overall blend when fitted.

Q & A
Good Morning Lindsay, For tile cutting, we would advise using a wet wheel cuter, hand cuter or angle grinder. Kind Regards, Walls and Floors.
Hi Lindsay Thanks for your query. If fitted correctly with a full bed of adhesive these tiles are fine for use under a log buner. Kind regards Walls and Floors
Hi Dawn When correctly maintained, the slate would only need to be resealed every 4-5 years. Sometimes longer. Normal bathroom cleaners are usually too acidic or alkaline, which can break the sealer down, leaving them prone to staining. We would recommend using a pH-neutral cleaner, such as the LTP Waxwash which will also fill gaps in any damaged sealer, further extending the time between resealing: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ltp-cleaning-protecting-ltp-waxwash-tile-maintenance Regards Walls And Floors

Hi Natasha, These tiles are made from natural slate and as such are fine for outdoor use due to their frost resistant qualities. If you are looking for a floor tile for an outside project it is worth considering one with an anti-slip surface as well https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/anti-slip-tiles Kind regards, Walls and Floors
Hi Kamala, Yes, they can. However, due to the combined weight of the tiles and fixing materials, they cannot be installed onto conventional plaster or plasterboard backgrounds. We would recommend boarding the walls with the Hardie Backer boards which are capable of supporting excessive weights. The walls in the direct wet areas will require a coating of the Ardex WPC tanking kit which will make the walls sufficiently waterproof. https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/hardiebacker-board-james-hardie Once the tiles are installed, but before grouting, they will also need sealing, either with the LTP Mattstone or the LTP Colour Intensifier depending on your preferred finish. A further application of the sealer can be applied after grouting to ensure the tiles are sufficiently protected and this will also seal the grout to prevent discolouration: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ltp-cleaning-protecting-ltp-mattstone-tile-sealer-11256 https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ltp-cleaning-protecting-ltp-tile-colour-intensifier-11264 If you would like to discuss your project in more detail, please call our sales team on 01536 314730, and they will be more than happy to help you. Hi Anna, Although grout colour is down to personal preference, grey grout has always been the most popular colour to complement Black Slate. With regards to sealing, the LTP Mattstone will leave the tiles their natural shade, however the LTP Colour Intensifier, will slightly deepen the colour. Both of these sealers do not require any pre-treatment before use and can be applied directly to the slate. We would recommend applying the sealer both before and after grouting: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ltp-cleaning-protecting-ltp-mattstone-tile-sealer-11256 https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ltp-cleaning-protecting-ltp-tile-colour-intensifier-11264 Regards Walls And Floors
