Description

Love the natural look? Our Multicolour Riven Slate Tiles are the perfect addition to your home!  A rich abundance of natural autumnal shades, with a riven surface, showcases the slates' rawest finish.  You can expect to see natural slatey clefts over the tile surface formed through the laying of the stones' make-up. Please note that these tiles can vary between 7-12mm thick due to their nature. We suggest grading your tiles prior to fitting.

Find the right blend

Due to the natural properties of natural slate tiles, variations in colour and thickness will vary from tile to tile, we recommend drying lay before fitting to create an authentic overall blend.

Sealing and maintenance

Due to the porosity of natural stone, they do require sealing. They need to be given a few coats before grouting and a further coat after to ensure they are well-protected. To keep the tiles their natural colour you can use the LTP Mattstone, but if you require to slightly deepen the colour, the LTP Colour Intensifier can be used as an alternative. To increase the longevity of the seal, ongoing maintenance and cleaning can be carried out using the LTP Waxwash.

Q & A

Hi, Please could you tell me whether these slate tiles (60 x 40) are suitable for a large garage? Our Advice

Hi Nita While slate would be strong enough as a whole to support the weight of cars in a garage, it is a layered stone which can flake when putting them under extreme pressure so may take a little while to "settle". Instead, we would advise a much denser material such as porcelain. Hi this tile in the 30 x 30 size is described for suitable for external use, but this one, which is the same slate but a bigger size is not (60x40 ). we would prefer this size for our largely covered patio. Would it be suitable and what sealing would it require please? Our Advice

Hi Sue, Yes these tiles can be used externally. The sealers we would recommend would be the LTP Mattstone, which will leave the tiles in their natural colour, or the LTP Colour Intensifier which will deepen the appearance: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ltp-cleaning-protecting-ltp-mattstone-tile-sealer-11256 https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ltp-cleaning-protecting-ltp-tile-colour-intensifier-11264 Regards, Walls and Floors

Would these be suitable for bathroom walls and in a shower? Our Advice

Hi Sue, These slate tiles can be used on walls in bathrooms and showers providing they are correctly prepared and capable of taking the weight. We would recommend they are installed with cement based tile adhesive, onto a tile backer board such as Hardiebacker, which will also require tanking in the shower areas. The tiles will also need sealing both before and after grouting, with the LTP Colour Intensifier: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/toolshed-tile-adhesive-standard-flex-grey-tile-adhesive https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/hardibacker-board-james-hardie-tile-backer-board-9317 https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ardex-tile-preparation-sealants-ardex-wpc-waterproof-protection-coat https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ltp-cleaning-protecting-ltp-tile-colour-intensifier-11264 If you need any further advice, please contact our sales team on 01536 314730 and they will be more than happy to assist you.
